Chocolate bread cake. This rich and moist chocolate loaf cake is the perfect size for a family dessert. Easy to prepare and bake, it requires basic pantry and fridge staples and can be baked beforehand but glazed right before serving. Both the cake and the chocolate glaze are made with cocoa powder.
While some recipes contain yeast, making them a genuine bread recipe, this style is a quick bread meaning it just uses baking powder and soda for the rise. In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Beat in the milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla at medium-low speed with an electric mixer until combined. This Chocolate Bread was in my second book, Ripe for Dessert, and when I was picking and choosing which recipes would make the cut, I had an overload of chocolate cakes and other treats in the book, including cream-filled Chocolate Cupcakes dipped in chocolate ganache.
